The machine is used or making of Coil Loops from one or multiple insulated copper conductors under tension as per specified dimensions for manufacture of coils for large Motor and Generators. The machine is equipped with an adjustable coil looping fixture to make coils of different nose-to-nose loop length from a min of 500-3500 mm. Radius of inner loop can vary from 15-30 mm, and outer radius from 35-200 mm. Machine is driven by an AC motor with AC VVF drive with a speed range of 0-60 rpm or as desired by customer.

Machine is equipped with Bobbin stands (max no of conductors to be specified) with mechanical/ pneumatic brakes and conductor tension stand which bunches the multiple conductors and maintains the constant tension during winding. A pneumatic conductor cutting device suspended from a spring balancer can be provided as optional accessory. Fully programmable Loop winding machine can also be supplied on request.

These machines apply fiberglass tape/wire under high tension, to the wire winding turns outside of the lamination stack of armatures to prevent “flare out” of these end turns due to centrifugal force at high rpm’s.
Armature banding machine basically consists of a heavy duty high torque winding machine with two speed ranges, driven by 5 HP AC motor with AC VVF drive which ensures smooth start & stop in addition to providing infinitely variable speed in the two speed ranges. The machine supports the armatures of various sizes between its centers and the drive is transmitted by means of a dog from the face plate of the head stock.

The Banding attachment is capable of providing maximum tension of 300 Kg with fiberglass tape and 500 Kg with steel wire. The Banding attachment is mounted on a pair of separate heavy-duty cylindrical guide ways with linear bearings for smooth traverse along the length of the armature. The traverse is motorized through a lead screw and nut arrangement and driven a bya 0.5HP geared motor with AC VVF drive for step less speed control. The traverse of the banding attachment is capable of being synchronized with the spindle rotation of the winding machine so as to get half overlap banding. The tension in the Banding attachment is obtained through large diameter brake drum and a set of rollers through which the tape/wire is routed. The tension is applied manually by a hand wheel or optionally by means of pneumatic disc brake. A strain gauge based load cell is provided with a calibrated digital indicator for tension display.

The machine is meant for undercutting of mica groove of commutator in manufacture and repair shops of small, medium and heavy motor and generator armatures. The armature is supported either on two adjustable type roller supports or held between two revolving centres which are mounted on common fabricated bed accurately machined. One of the armature support assemblies can be moved on the bed to accommodate different lengths of armatures. The cutter assembly is mounted on carriage, which is an LM type guide ways with ball screw and nut driven by an AC motor with step less speed through AC VVF drive. The cutter assembly with carriage is mounted on a robust pedestal. The cutter assembly incorporates a floating mechanism for the spindle which allows the cutter to compensate for minor misalignments. The cutter is driven by an AC motor via pulley & ‘V’ belt arrangement with speed control through an AC VVF drive.

Armature rotation is done by a double worm reduction gearbox with endless flat belt. The automatic operation of the machine is controlled through a PLC and fibre optic sensing device. The machine will stop automatically after undercutting of all the mica grooves. Provision for manual operation through push button is also available. The motorized brush deburring attachment removes the sharp edges on undercut copper bars while creating a smooth radius on the corner of the bars. Provision for rotation of armature at high speed for deburring is in built in the machine.
