VIKRANT has developed turntables for railroads and transit systems and is the leading turntable designer and manufacturer in India. Our proprietary designs and manufacturing methods for turntablesensure that our turntable customers will get the highest quality and highest value turntables available on the market today.

The turntable has two drive systems, one at each end of the turntable bridge, each of which utilizes variable speed motors for smooth start and stop functions, as well as quiet operation. Automatic wheel chocks and rotation locking devices are available, as well as an open weather-proof control station or an enclosed operator control area with lower power consumption and less maintenance and downtime.

The top of the turntable can also be built to contain both rails and a road surface, so that non-rail vehicles (such as rescue vehicles) can be driven across the turntable.

VIKRANT developed custom build Coach Washing Plant / coach wash system,designed and manufactured by experienced engineers. Manufactured using rigid and galvanized frames, our coach washing systems remain stationary whilst the vehicle travels through it at low speeds. The washing system will use 20% of fresh water for each coach or train while the remaining 80% will be recycled and used.

In railway workshops a traverser is applied to move locomotives or wagons laterally from the siding track to a specific hall. In this way the wagons or locomotives can also be traversed from one hall to the other. The great advantage of a traverser is that no long and costly return tracks with many switches need to be installed. Also more space for other purposes remains available.

VIKRANT has developed Traverser as customer specific and particularly the span, load, and the number of tracks to be operated determine the version. Also as far as control is concerned there are many possibilities, e.g. manual control with positioning on view, to (semi) automatic positioning by means of radio remote control or via network. The control system can also be integrated in a maintenance and operational diagnostic system. Furthermore the traverser will be provided with the necessary safety mechanisms, along with protection against driving off, quay locking and all necessary signal lighting.

The entire production process consists of designing, constructing, assembly and delivery of the complete traverser.

VIKRANT has developed Bogie and Traction Motor / Wheel set Drop Tables to facilitate in the removal of bogies and traction motor wheel set assemblies from locomotives. Both drop tables have been designed to increase efficiency and safety within the maintenance workshop through simplified and robust operation.

The Traction Motor / Wheelset Drop Table is designed to support and lower the wheel set/traction motor assembly from the locomotive and traverse the wheelset into an open area of the workshop where it can be removed for maintenance. Customized pit layout can be incorporated to suit the requirements of the workshop.

These jacks have been specially developed by us to meet the requirements of various Railways & Commercial concerns. Our jack are better in shape, design & technology than the imported ones and are the most dependable, trouble-free in operation & needs minimum maintenance. It is worthwhile to maintain that their performance & low cost factor have posted a serious challenge to others. The jacks are driven by squirrel cage induction motors, totally enclosed fan cooled, foot mounted, operating on 415 volts+-10%, 3 phase, 50 Hz, A.C. supply. The power from motors is transferred to a totally enclosed, oil-immersed reduction gear system. The load screw & the nut, used in jacks are generously proportioned to withstand regular lifting of heavy loads.

Rigidity & stability

The jacks are of robust, rigid & of sturdy construction. They are suitably designed to meet heavy duty demands in various operations. The manufacturing process is supervised by the experienced technical experts & all sorts of precautions are taken to ensure safety & durability aspects. Each fabrication of critical load bearing assemblies is adequately strengthened.

Turning/Rotating of heavy loads with overhead crane is a hazardous operation in a workshop. Unsafe handling may result in accident to personnel as well as damage to Equipment and material. For such operations Load Turning Device is effective Equipment which can be used for turning/rotating of heavy loads in a controlled manner with the help of overhead crane. The Equipment is a portable unit and can be transported by an overhead crane to the location where the job is to be turned. Most of the loads can be tuned/rotated 3600 and stopped at any position for the next stage of operation/welding needs.

The standard models come with fixed belt centre. However custom built models are available with adjustable centre distance between belts. Polyester belts are used to lift and rotate the load upto 20 Ton capacity. Anti-abrasive sleeves are used to protect the belt where it comes in contact with sharp corners of the load. For weight above 20 Tons, Steel Chains or Wire Rope are used. Depending on the size of the load single unit or two units in tandem can be used according to convenience and availability of overhead crane. Each unit is fitted with an electrical control panel and is supplied with adequate length of cable with a control pendent for operation. A synchronizing cable with plug & socket is also supplied for operation of two units in tandem. Operation with Remote control pendent is also available. Generally we require the max weight along with the drg of the load to be turned at the time of the customer enquiry, to recommend a suitable Turning device.

The Motorised Turntableis essential equipment for any Railway workshop as it enables easy movement of both wheel sets and Bogies between different rails which feed the various machine tools such as wheel lathes and wheel presses. The Turntables also increases the flow of maintenance work within the facility reducing the handling of the Bogies from when they are removed from the trains to the maintenance area. The Turntable is used for redirecting the Bogies/Wheel sets between the work line and service lines for maintenance, once they have been removed from the wagons. The Turntable is suitable for both ‘T’ junction as well as Cross junction.

The Turntable is designed to be mounted in a concrete pit with rails at floor level for direct loading and unloading of Wheel sets/Bogies from one track to another within the workshop. The Turntable has 3600 rotational capability and is rotated at a very slow speed by means of high reduction geared motor and final drive through a slew ring bearing/Spherical Roller bearing. As the Turntable is flush with the floor level, it is subjected to vehicle movement and therefore is suitably designed to withstand the maximum load of such traffic. Turntables with different outer diameters, comprises of a main steel structure, a central support with the drive arrangement for rotation and circumferential wheels to support loads. The Turntable can be rotated either in clockwise or anticlockwise direction and can be stopped at each 90 degree as required to align with the rails on the shop floor. Arrangement is provided in the Turntable for locking of the wheel sets/Bogies to prevent its jumping of the rail during rotation. Provision is made for locking of the Turntable during loading & unloading.

VIKRANT designs and manufactures Turntables as per individual customer’s requirement. Standard Turntables for Wheel sets are 3 metre in diameter with load capacity of 2 Tons with max traffic load of 7.5 Tons or as per shop floor demand. In case of Bogies, diameter of Turntables is up to 5 metre with bogie load of 10 Tons and max traffic load of 15 Tons or as per customer need.

The Equipment is used for Lifting & Turning of Side wall & Roof beam assembly with their fixture, under frame of a Coach/Wagon/Locomotive, and Bogie set to different heights during various stages of production. The Job can be rotated 360ﹾ in clockwise or anticlockwise and stopped at any position for next stage of operation/welding. The Equipment consists of the 2 sets of Lifting & Turning Device.

The two sets are identical except that Master unit is equipped with a motorised Turning capability and the Slave unit can be traversed on floor rails to accommodate different lengths of Job. The operation is controlled from a hand pendent or from push button on control panel.  Every unit is custom designed by our experienced design team on latest 3D software.  The customer has to furnish the max weight & Drg of the Job to be handled by our Machine and the rest will be done by our design team in interaction with the user.  We also provide suitable automated welding system which can be integrated with the Manipulator for automated long seam welding solution.

Vikrant Manufactures Bogie Frame lifting Tackle and Hydraulic Bolster Pressing Fixture for different Bogie frame. The Hydraulic cylinders and Powerpack is of world renowned Enerpack make.

At the time of enquiry the customer has to furnish the complete drg of the Bogie along with Bolster details. Our design team will suitably design the Fixture and we shall prove the effective working of the unit.
